YS-11 Flight Check Squadron
It is an introduction of flight inspection by YS-11FC and U-125 in Japan. YS-11EA also flew this day.
I came to the Iriso Multipurpose Square to see YS-11 today. This is one of the famous photography locations crowded with spectators watching Blue Impulse Aerobatic Demonstration on the day of the Iruma Air Base Festival.
When I was waiting while listening to the Aviation Radio, the YS-11FC was approached to Iriso Air Base. YS-11 is an old turboprop aircraft.
This is a YS-11FC (52-1151) Flight Check Squadron aircraft that belongs to Japan's Iruma Air Base. Flight inspection aircraft are mainly used to inspect traffic control equipment around the airport. The red and white colors mean that it is a flight inspection aircraft.
The YS-11FC (52-1151) flying today is the oldest YS-11 aircraft owned by the Air Self-Defense Force, and is made in 1965. Aircraft manufactured 53 years ago are still flying.
The cabin of the civilian YS-11 is introduced on a separate page.
Subsequently, a small aircraft appeared.
This is a U-125 (29-3041) flight inspection aircraft. This aircraft is a military aircraft that has remodeled the business jet.
The U-125 is not as old as the YS-11, but 28 years have already passed since it is released in 1990. Two U-125s are currently deployed at Iruma Base.
The flying YS-11 can be seen around Iruma Air Base in Japan. Near Tokorozawa US military base, you can see the YS-11 flying south. In the vicinity of the station, you can see the turning YS-11 towards the west.
After a few years, the YS-11FC will not be seen flying. The "Citation680A" was selected by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) to replace older YS-11FC. The first aircraft will be delivered to JASDF in March 2020. As a result, YS-11A-218FC (12-1160) will be retired. YS-11-103FC (52-1151) is also expected to be retired.
Today, another YS-11 was also flying. This is YS-11EA (12-1162) Electronic Warfare Squadron aircraft.
YS-11EA is a modified airframe based on the YS-11C cargo airplane. The aircraft has been remodeled into a cargo plane so there are no window marks on the sides of the aircraft.
